She was saying hello. He only heard goodbye. Ever since the change he could no longer stay on the surface. He could only sink further and further into the deep.

Seasons change, people change…

The original Fantastic Four were the four seasons. From ancient times man has watched the world change and assigned personality and purpose to what he’d witnessed. Like superheroes of today we have long celebrated the superhuman feats of The Fall, Winter Blast, Summer Heatwave and May Flowers.

The biggest change of all

You never see the Grim Reaper coming. One day you’re like Donald McNealy–happy, healthy, drinking your kale shake and checking your stock portfolio on your smartphone–the next you’re dead. Boom. Game over.

Death is simultaneously the most expected and unexpected change we experience.

Becoming the monster

Sometimes the most terrifying thing about change is when we see it coming–creeping up inside us, overtaking our minds.

In the 1960’s a group of former Nazi scientists ran experiments on German soldiers in an effort to give them supernatural strength and stamina. Everyone of the test subjects eventually went mad. The scientists could never determine if the insanity was caused by the chemicals, or the fact that the soldiers consciously realized what they had become in the process.

What have you become in the process of change? Are you terrified?

Werewolf? There. Wolf.

In participation in #Inktober this year, I’m doing the theme of changes.

Sir Jasper Goodney didn’t think that the stray dog bite he got a month ago would change him into a bloodthirsty werewolf who would murder everyone he invited to his birthday party.

We all change, like it or not. How have you changed this year?
